The historic General Crook Trail winds along the brink of the Mogollon Rim and the  historic Highline Trail hugs the base of the Rim.  These are just two of the numerous trails that abound in the area.  From the Windmill Corner Inn, trail heads are within walking distance; a short drive can multiply the number and variety of trails for day outings.  Fossil Springs Trail, one of our favorites, takes you to a lush environment at which you can swim, picnic, study fossils, or explore the waters of travertine pools along the creek.  The Tonto Natural Bridge State Park reveals the beauty of a natural wonder.  The Natural Bridge is believed to be the largest travertine bridge in the world.

This is also the area in which to enjoy hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Ask about nature walks with a llama guide. The llamas carry your load. Hikes are tailored to your hiking level.

The oldest standing schoolhouse in Arizona is located in Strawberry.  Demonstrations, story tellers and old time shows are some of the activities sponsored by the Strawberry Schoolhouse.  Visit the Pine Strawberry Museum or follow the Walking History Trail of Pine Strawberry.

Amble through little shops which have antiques and collectibles,  pottery,  fine arts,  handmade crafts, and gourmet foods.  Stop at the  fudge shop or the old fashioned soda fountain and relax into the pace of a small town.

There are excellent dining establishments within walking distance.
